Are you passionate about supporting and advancing the work of TESOL professionals in New Mexico? Do you have organizational or financial skills that can help strengthen the NM TESOL community? If so, we encourage you to consider serving on the NM TESOL Board! We are now accepting nominations and expressions of interest for the roles of Secretary and Treasurer.

Serving on the NM TESOL Board is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the professional development of English language educators across the state. Here’s more about the positions we’re seeking to fill:

Secretary

The Secretary plays a key role in keeping our organization organized and on track. Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling board meetings and recording minutes.
  • Submitting meeting minutes for approval.
  • Maintaining an updated contact list of board members.
  • Assisting with writing and editing materials, and emailing the membership as needed.

This position is essential in ensuring that the board functions efficiently and that clear communication is maintained among board members.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining NM TESOL’s financial records. Key duties include:

  • Serving as a liaison with the association’s accountant.
  • Managing the association’s financial transactions and records.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred, but not required. Our current Treasurer will assist in the transition if needed.

The Treasurer helps ensure the financial health of the organization, allowing us to continue offering valuable resources and professional development opportunities to TESOL educators across the state.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You must be willing to become a member of NM TESOL if you are not already.
  • Willingness to serve for a two-year term.
  • Ability to participate in one Leadership Workshop over the summer and monthly board meetings, which are conducted via Zoom.
